BetBot vs Bet Angel

Bet Angel is the best-known Betfair trading tool, and if you trade by hand on a ladder it is a fine one. BetBot is built for a different job: write a strategy, test it against recorded markets, run it on paper, then let it run for real. This page says plainly where the two differ, and where they do not.

Side by side

Bet AngelBetBot
What it isA trading ladder for Windows with automation (Guardian) built around it. You trade live, by hand or by rules you set up in the application.A strategy desk in the browser. You describe a strategy in plain words or build it step by step, and BetBot tests it, paper trades it and runs it on your own Betfair account.
Runs onWindows. A Mac needs Windows installed, and running it 24 hours a day means a PC or a rented server left on.Any browser, including your phone. Nothing to install. Strategies run on BetBot's servers whether your laptop is open or not.
Testing a strategyPractice mode on live prices and a viewer for historic prices. There is no replay of a strategy over recorded markets; that is a feature Bet Angel's own forum members ask for.Backtests over 11,000+ real recorded matches, with the prices and the scores as they moved. The Strategy Lab replays every dial you change over those games and holds the newest games out so a tuned strategy is judged on matches it never saw.
Honest fillsLive or practice, you take the price that is there.A replay fills one reading late, the way a live in-play order does after Betfair's delay, and a stop loss is chased, not assumed. Every result carries its own margin of error, counted by match, and the bank the strategy would have needed.
SportsEvery Betfair market, on the ladder.Eleven sports with their own triggers: horse racing and greyhounds, football, tennis, basketball, cricket, rugby union and league, baseball, snooker and volleyball, with live score conditions on the nine that carry scores.
Building a strategyGuardian's rules editor, spreadsheets, or Bet Angel's own automation files. An AI builder that turns your words into steps you can read and edit, or the step builder itself. Every decision the strategy takes, including every decision not to bet, leaves a written reason on the card.
Paper tradingPractice mode, on live prices.Paper trading on live Betfair prices, per strategy, with the same safety nets as real money: stake caps, a daily loss limit, a profit target, a price sanity exit.
Your Betfair loginEntered into the application.Never stored. BetBot is an official Betfair App Vendor and connects through Betfair's own vendor sign-in; you can revoke it from Betfair at any time.
Price£29.99 a month or £149.99 a year for the Professional edition; a Trader edition from £6 a month, as published on betangel.com.£24.99 a month, everything included. Seven-day free trial. Build and read everything before a card is asked for.

Bet Angel's prices and features are as published on its own site on 2 October 2026 and may have changed since; we have not used every feature of every edition. If something here is wrong, tell us through the contact page and it will be corrected. Bet Angel is a trademark of its owner and is not connected with BetBot.

Where Bet Angel is the better choice

If you scalp by hand, watching one race at a time on a ladder with one-click trading, Bet Angel does that job and has done it for years. BetBot has no ladder to click on. Its scalping runs as a strategy with a target and a stop, polled once a second on a fast lane, which is a pre-off scalp and never a one-tick ladder scalp. We say that on the builder itself.

If you already have working Guardian automation and a PC that stays on, you are not the person this page is for.

Where BetBot is the better choice

What BetBot will not tell you

It will not tell you a strategy makes money. It will tell you what the strategy would have done over the games it has recorded, with the margin of error on that figure and the matches held out of the test. Our own research over in-play tennis found no idea that beat the spread, and we say so, because a tool that only shows winners is not a tool.

Trading on the Betfair Exchange carries financial risk. BetBot is a tool, not betting advice, and does not guarantee profit.
